What is Your Life Line all about?
Your lifeline is a website for young people administered by young people with support and guidance from a range of professionals from health and social care. The heart and soul of the website is the respectful use of stories and narratives of real people who have used mental health services and people who have experienced and recovered from emotional distress. These people provide constant input and advice to the website itself giving a unique insight for young people about emotional health and well being, covering a range of issues that young people can face in their daily lives.
The website content also provides a resource full of real information, stories and narratives. It is a tool used as part of the personal health social citizenship education (PHSCE) curriculum and for Guidance lessons in Thornhill School as both teachers and pupils interact with it. The content itself changes and develops as this interaction take place. It provides young people with support and guidance and encourages them to explore a range of positive and helpful options when dealing with the challenges they faced in their lives.
"We are young people who believe young people always need a choice and need listening to, only by feeling listened to, can the things going on inside our heads start making some sense - this is our life line and it is your life line too"
