Video description:
The mental health advert was created within the school working with an occupational therapist and family therapist who help deliver our PHSCE lessons called Graeme Smith. Whilst working with Mrs Barrons class over two years the children were involved in developing the story board and actually star in the advert. It had a Royal premier in October 2005 with HRH Princess Anne in Sunderland and shown across 40 cinemas across the North East of England. The advert won a Royal televison society award 2006, and was shown at the Cannes Film Festival 2006. You can see the short film that was made by Graeme and the film crew who attended the festival on this website. The advert was shown across North America, Austrailia and the rest of the UK in 2006. It was also nominated at BAFTA Mental Health Media awards 2006. It is still used today in cinemas and as part of mental health awareness training and anti stigma work by the school and other national international organizations.
